Ronaldo Eyes Squad Overhaul at Al-Nassr, Targets Casemiro Reunion
Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has placed squad reinforcement at the center of his contract renewal negotiations with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. The forward, whose current contract expires at the season's end, has expressed openness to extending his stay but with specific conditions aimed at enhancing the team's competitiveness.
At the top of Ronaldo's wishlist is his former teammate Casemiro, with whom he shared successful spells at both Real Madrid and Manchester United. The Brazilian midfielder, currently at Manchester United, has seen limited playing time under new management, starting only four of his 22 appearances this season despite contributing three goals.
The potential reunion gains credibility as Casemiro's position at Old Trafford appears increasingly peripheral. Despite being under contract until 2026, reports suggest Manchester United might be willing to consider transfer offers this year. The pair's proven chemistry, demonstrated through 122 joint appearances and seven combined goals during their time together, makes this proposed transfer particularly appealing for Al-Nassr's ambitions.
Ronaldo's influence at Al-Nassr is backed by impressive performance metrics, with 17 goals and three assists in 20 appearances this season. His total contribution since joining the Saudi club in December 2022 stands at 75 goals and 18 assists across 84 games, underlining his continued impact at the highest level.
The club's management appears receptive to Ronaldo's vision for strengthening the squad, recognizing the need to compete effectively with rival clubs like Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad. Beyond the potential Casemiro acquisition, discussions include reinforcements across multiple positions, signaling Al-Nassr's commitment to building a more competitive team around their star player.
