‘Totally Spies’ Transforms into Live-Action Series on Amazon Prime Video

In a thrilling development for fans of animated adventures, a beloved trio of heroines is set to leap from the world of animation to live-action. The iconic French cartoon "Totally Spies" is making a grand return, this time as an American live-action series on Amazon Prime Video.

Production company Banijay recently announced that this adaptation will be available by late 2025. The series will be filmed in the United States, with renowned comedian Will Ferrell stepping in as the executive producer. François Riahi, CEO of Banijay Group, expressed his enthusiasm, noting that this project represents a significant milestone for the company.

Originally a phenomenon of the early 2000s, "Totally Spies" captivated audiences with the adventures of Sam, Clover, and Alex—teenage girls leading double lives as spies. Dressed in their iconic green, red, and yellow suits, the trio fought villains and tackled high-stakes missions. The series first aired in 2001 and ran for six successful seasons, achieving global acclaim.

After an eleven-year hiatus, the animated series made a triumphant return with a seventh season. Now, with the live-action adaptation, Banijay has partnered with Amazon MGM Studios to bring the beloved characters to a new medium. Riahi highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating, "This is undoubtedly the most significant deal ever signed in our kids’ division. It presents a unique opportunity to increase the value and reach of ‘Totally Spies.'"

"Totally Spies" holds a special place in the hearts of many Gen Z viewers in Morocco, who grew up watching the series on MBC3. For these fans, Sam, Clover, and Alex were more than just characters—they were symbols of adventure and friendship. As these viewers have grown, the announcement of a live-action adaptation is sure to spark excitement and nostalgia.

With the series set to premiere by late 2025, fans can anticipate a fresh take on their favorite spy adventures. The return of "Totally Spies" as a live-action series promises to recapture the magic of the original while introducing the dynamic trio to a new generation of viewers.
