Zakat Al Fitr 2024: Set at 20 Dirhams per Person
The Supreme Council of Scholars has announced that the amount of Zakat Al Fitr for the year 1445H/2024 has been set at 20 dirhams per person.
In a statement, the Council details that Zakat consists of offering a saa nabawi, equivalent to 4 amdads per person, based on the essential elements of the population's consumption, which amounts to 2.5 kg of cereals or flour. It is stated that it is possible to pay Zakat Al Fitr two to three days before Eid, as well as to deliver it in the form of money.
It is emphasized that any person can pay a higher amount or quantity if they have the means to do so, according to the same source.
The Council reminds that Zakat Al Fitr is a mandatory charity at the end of each month of Ramadan, instituted by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon Him, with the purpose of purifying the fasters from impure words and feeding the needy to get closer to Allah.
