White House nears agreement to end Gaza conflict
Media reports on Thursday revealed that the White House is close to securing an agreement that could bring an end to the war in Gaza. According to the American news site Axios, sources indicate optimism that the new initiative by US Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, may successfully bridge the gap between Israel and Hamas.
The sources noted that the White House believes an agreement could be reached within days if both Israel and Hamas make small concessions. This follows remarks from former President Donald Trump on Wednesday, praising the US administration’s efforts in Gaza and urging the parties to accept the mediator’s proposal.
Steve Witkoff confirmed plans to send a new agreement proposal soon, aiming for a temporary ceasefire as a step toward a long-term resolution of the conflict. He expressed confidence in the possibility of a temporary ceasefire and called on all parties to accept the proposals to resolve the Gaza crisis.
Hamas has reportedly accepted Witkoff’s proposal, agreeing to end hostilities and withdraw Israeli forces. According to CNN, the plan includes releasing half of the living prisoners and half of the bodies held, in exchange for a temporary ceasefire, paving the way for broader negotiations to end the war.
