United States: Two-Year-Old boy killed after dog attack at babysitter’s home
A tragic incident occurred in Valdosta, Georgia, where a two-year-old boy was killed after being attacked by two rottweilers belonging to his babysitter. According to local police reports, the woman, aged 48, was allegedly taking a nap when the child wandered outside and entered the kennel where the dogs were kept.
Authorities said the babysitter did not hold an official childcare license. Believing the boy was asleep, she reportedly fell asleep herself, unaware that he had slipped into the garden. Once inside the kennel, the child was attacked by the two rottweilers.
Emergency services arrived quickly, but the child was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from the Valdosta Police Department. The woman has since been charged with second-degree murder and cruelty to a child.
The three dogs, including the two responsible for the attack, were seized and transferred to a local animal shelter. “This is a tragedy that should never have happened,” said the Valdosta police chief, who highlighted the babysitter’s negligenceas the main cause of the fatal incident.
