Ukrainian drones destroy Russian base at Donetsk airport

Ukrainian forces launched a precise strike on a key Russian drone hub at Donetsk Airport overnight from December 29 to 30, obliterating storage and preparation sites for Shahed, Geran, and Gerbera drones deployed in assaults across Ukraine. The operation targeted logistics centers, warhead depots, and facilities housing Russian personnel responsible for drone maintenance and launches, severely disrupting enemy operations.

Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces known by the call sign "Magyar," confirmed the success of the attack on December 30. Units from the 1st Separate Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces executed the mission against what Brovdi called a massive Russian drone preparation base in occupied Donetsk. Intelligence from the 414th Separate Brigade "Magyar's Birds" and the Deep Strike Center coordinated the effort.

The assault neutralized critical infrastructure, including a Geran and Shahed logistics hub, pre-flight training areas for Geran, Shahed, and Gerbera drones, a main warhead warehouse, Gerbera storage, and sites where Russian technicians gathered. This marked the second verified Ukrainian hit on the facility, following an earlier strike on November 5.
