The United Kingdom has announced the appointment of Ben Coleman as the new trade envoy to Morocco and West Africa. This decision was confirmed by Jonathan Reynolds, the UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade. Coleman, a British Member of Parliament representing Chelsea and Fulham, will play a crucial role in enhancing trade and investment exchanges between the UK and Morocco.

This appointment is part of a broader initiative, which also includes the designation of 31 other trade envoys covering 79 international markets. These representatives are tasked with supporting the competitiveness of British businesses globally, facilitating access to new markets, and attracting more foreign investment.

The primary goal of this new approach is to stimulate the UK's economic growth by supporting its industrial and trade priorities, particularly through increasing foreign direct investment. Trade envoys will also be pivotal in implementing the UK government's commercial and industrial strategies.

Economic relations between Morocco and the UK have reached a strategic milestone with the signing of the UK-Morocco partnership agreement in 2021, which came into force early that year. This agreement has played a significant role in boosting trade exchanges between the two countries, strengthening economic ties, and opening new avenues for cooperation in several key sectors.
