UGGC Avocats promotes Rim Tazi to partner in Casablanca

UGGC Avocats has elevated business lawyer Rim Tazi to partner at its Casablanca office, reinforcing the firm’s footprint in Morocco and across African markets. The appointment forms part of the continued expansion of UGGC Africa, the division coordinating the firm’s activities on the continent. Tazi, who joined the firm in 2007 and became Counsel in 2019, enters the partnership in 2026 after nearly two decades within the organization.

With more than 18 years of experience in business law, Tazi advises Moroccan and international clients on strategic transactions and ongoing corporate matters. Her practice focuses on cross-border operations, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity deals, international investments and complex contractual arrangements. She supports investors in structuring projects in Morocco, navigating foreign exchange regulations and incentive frameworks, and managing high-value transactions from planning through execution.

Her expertise extends to joint ventures, corporate restructurings and the negotiation of sophisticated commercial agreements, ranging from sale and purchase contracts to franchising, distribution, agency and trademark licensing arrangements. In addition to transactional work, she provides counsel on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, employment law and data protection. Her sector experience spans agrifood, pharmaceuticals, automotive, aeronautics, technology, luxury goods, retail, optics, payment services and hospitality.

Tazi regularly represents major institutional and financial groups from Morocco and abroad, including French and Anglo-Saxon clients, as well as Moroccan public and semi-public entities. Managing partner Ali Bougrine described her promotion as recognition of her long-standing contribution and technical expertise, noting that her admission to the partnership is intended to enhance the firm’s capacity to support complex and strategic operations in Morocco and throughout Africa.

The appointment comes as UGGC Africa continues to expand its regional platform. Operating from Casablanca and supported by an Africa Desk in Paris, the structure has developed a pan-African network since 2002, including alliances with leading firms in Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon. The team comprises eight partners and about 30 lawyers covering more than 20 practice areas, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, international investments, litigation and arbitration.

UGGC Avocats overall counts 180 lawyers, including more than 40 partners based in Paris, and maintains operations across Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America and Africa. The firm positions itself as an independent French law firm combining international standards with local market expertise. The promotion in Casablanca is presented as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its African platform and deepen its long-term presence in Morocco.
