Turkey arrests 115 ISIS suspects over alleged Christmas attack plots
Turkish authorities have detained 115 individuals suspected of being members of the Islamic State (ISIS), reportedly planning attacks targeting Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Istanbul chief prosecutor’s office announced.
Police intelligence indicated that the suspects were specifically targeting non-Muslims during the holiday season. In response, officers carried out raids at 124 locations across Istanbul, arresting 115 of the 137 individuals sought. Authorities also confiscated several firearms and ammunition during the operation.
The arrests come amid heightened security measures in Turkey ahead of holiday celebrations, reflecting ongoing concerns about terrorist threats in the country.
