Strengthening Bonds: Morocco and Rwanda Forge Closer Ties at Kagame's Inauguration
In a significant diplomatic gesture, Morocco has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing relations with Rwanda during President Paul Kagame's inauguration for a fourth term. The ceremony, held in Kigali, saw Kagame re-elected with an overwhelming majority, securing over 98% of the vote in July.
Representing King Mohammed VI at the event was Habib El Malki, President of the Higher Council for Education, Training, and Scientific Research, accompanied by Morocco's ambassador to Rwanda, Youssef Imani. The gathering was attended by various global leaders and dignitaries.
King Mohammed VI conveyed heartfelt congratulations to President Kagame, recognizing his leadership and expressing eagerness to deepen the partnership between Morocco and Rwanda. The King emphasized Morocco’s dedication to fostering cooperation that benefits both nations and promotes broader African unity.
Highlighting the strengthened ties, last month, the Rwandan embassy in Morocco celebrated the 30th anniversary of Rwanda's Liberation Day, known as Kwibohora. This event, commemorating the end of the Rwandan Genocide, underscored the growing bilateral relations. Rwanda’s ambassador to Morocco, Shakilla K. Umutoni, praised these developments, citing key diplomatic visits in 2016 and the establishment of embassies in both countries as pivotal moments in their partnership.
As Morocco and Rwanda continue to collaborate, their shared vision aims to enhance solidarity and integration across the continent.
