Settat: a motorcycle theft gang dismantled by law enforcement
In Settat, security services dismantled, on Sunday, a suspected criminal gang specialized in violent motorcycle theft targeting riders. The operation was carried out by elements of the territorial center of the Gendarmerie royale, under the Settat company and regional command, in coordination with the judicial police.
According to consistent sources, the case began after a complaint was filed with the judicial police of the Settat police prefecture. The victim reported being intercepted on a public road by several individuals riding motorcycles. Under threat and after the use of violence, the suspects allegedly seized the victim’s two-wheeler before fleeing. The complainant provided descriptions that helped guide the investigation.
An arrest in the Mzamza Nord area
Investigations led law enforcement to intensify searches in peripheral zones. It was in the Mzamza Nord region, near Settat, that the three suspects were eventually located and arrested. The motorcycle mentioned in the complaint was also recovered during the operation.
According to initial findings, the suspects, who are from the province of Settat, are believed to be involved in armed attacks and theft under threat. The investigation is ongoing to determine the group’s possible involvement in other similar incidents reported in the region.
Coordination between gendarmerie and judicial police
This operation highlights the security coordination between the Royal Gendarmerie and the judicial police services, a mechanism frequently mobilized to combat crime in urban and peri-urban areas.
Following their arrest, the suspects were taken to the competent territorial center before being handed over to the judicial police of the Settat police prefecture, which is handling the initial complaint. The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, pending the suspects’ presentation before justice for appropriate legal proceedings.
