Security cooperation: Abdellatif Hammouchi on working visit to Turkey

Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance in Morocco, is carrying out a working visit to Turkey at the head of a high-level security delegation. His visit coincides with the International Security Equipment Fair (IGEF 2025), held from September 18 to 20 in Ankara.

During his stay, Hammouchi met with his Turkish counterpart, Mahmut Demirtaş, Director General of the Turkish National Police. According to a statement from the Moroccan security services, the talks focused on the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation in the field of security. Both parties highlighted the importance of joint action to strengthen stability, neutralize emerging threats, and address common challenges.

The discussions also addressed the fight against irregular migration and its links with organized crime networks, as well as the development of police training programs and capacity-building for law enforcement personnel.

The Moroccan official also held talks with delegations from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Malaysia on security cooperation and the need to adapt strategies to global challenges such as terrorism and cross-border organized crime.

Hammouchi’s visit comes as Morocco prepares to host major international events, including the 93rd Interpol General Assembly in Marrakech in November 2025, the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025, and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted with Spain and Portugal.

According to the same source, the visit underlines the shared determination of Morocco and Turkey to strengthen cooperation mechanisms, exchange expertise, and develop advanced security strategies to counter transnational threats.
