Road Safety: Yango Ride Enhances Its Technological Measures in Morocco

Road safety is increasingly becoming a major issue for mobility stakeholders. In its 2024-2025 Safety Report, Yango Ride highlights the evolution of its technological and assistance measures, notably a 31% decrease in serious traffic violations reported on its platform between 2024 and 2025.

Globally, the number of serious violations reported has decreased from 9.83 to 6.76 cases per million rides. The decline also concerns dangerous driving incidents, with decreases of 47% reported in the MENA region and South Asia, 38% in Africa, and 24% in Latin America.

In Morocco, road safety remains a major issue

These figures take on particular significance in Morocco, where provisional indicators from the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) report 4,577 deaths on the roads in 2025, representing a 25.5% increase compared to the previous year. The number of fatalities in urban areas has reportedly increased by 49.9%.

In this context, Yango Ride indicates its intention to strengthen its contribution to urban mobility safety, as the Kingdom embarks on its national road safety strategy for the period 2026-2030.

A safety system that operates before, during, and after the ride

The report presents a system structured around the different stages of a journey. Before the ride, the platform includes identity and document verification for the concerned users, with checks on driving licenses, additional verifications depending on the markets, and mechanisms aimed at combating fraud.

During the ride, the Safety Center allows users to share their route in real-time with loved ones, contact emergency assistance, and activate an alarm button. Limits regarding continuous driving duration and rest periods are also provided depending on the markets.

The platform also uses driving style analysis and GPS speed monitoring to identify certain recurring dangerous behaviors. Measures can range from a warning to losing access to the service. For motorcycle rides offered in Morocco, Yango states it applies a strengthened control methodology.

Emergency assistance available 24/7

Emergency assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. According to the report, technology helps identify urgent requests, while situation assessment and intervention decisions are entrusted to trained specialists. In 90% of urgent situations recorded globally, these teams aim for first contact within five minutes.

Data protection is also a key aspect of the system. Calls made through the app are routed through secure channels, and the “Hide my number” feature prevents direct exchange of personal contact information between passengers and drivers.

In certain markets already having data for 2026, Yango reports a decrease in post-ride contacts of 81% in Peru, 78% in Colombia, and 31% in Pakistan.

Yango Cares: a focus on drivers

The safety strategy is not limited to features integrated into the app. In Casablanca, the Yango Cares program has enabled dozens of partner drivers to receive eye examinations and glasses. The stated goal is to contribute to better driving conditions, particularly for reading signage and perceiving the road environment.

The report also mentions partnerships conducted in other markets with public institutions and organizations specializing in road safety. In Côte d'Ivoire, training sessions have been organized with the Road Safety Office, while in Zambia, the Safer Journeys to School program has reached approximately 8,000 students in five schools in Lusaka.

Data based on user reports

Yango specifies that statistics related to serious violations and dangerous driving behaviors are based on reports made by passengers through the channels integrated into the app. The data is then classified and reported per million rides to allow for comparisons between periods and regions. For Morocco, the accident statistics come from the provisional 2025 indicators from NARSA.

The 2024-2025 Safety Report thus integrates digital tools, emergency assistance, and driver support into a comprehensive prevention approach, as mobility platforms are increasingly directly concerned with urban mobility safety issues.
