Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club Enters Morocco’s ‘Salon du Cheval’ with Grandeur

The QREC’s participation comes as part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, symbolizing the strategic ties between the two nations.

Morocco is once again hosting an event showcasing its dedication to equestrian culture, with its 15th edition of the “Salon du Cheval,” set to take place from September 30 to October 6 in El Jadida. This isn’t just another event; it’s a celebration of heritage, elegance, and cultural diplomacy, where tradition meets grandeur.

The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) is gearing up to make a grand entrance at the 15th edition of the Salon du Cheval in Morocco, which has become a cornerstone of the equestrian calendar.

This year’s theme, “Horse Farming in Morocco: Innovation and Challenge,” will highlight the advancements and challenges in the field, offering a rich tapestry of events that include the Grand Prix of the King Mohamed VI of jumping, the International Arabian Horse Show, and the Grand Prix of King Mohamed VI of Tbourida, a traditional Moroccan equestrian art form that captivates spectators with its pageantry and skill.

The QREC’s participation comes as part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, symbolizing the deep and strategic ties between the two nations.

Morocco-Qatar: A Deep Cultural Partnership

Since its first appearance as a platinum sponsor in 2018, QREC has continually enhanced the Salon’s value, further solidifying the partnership between Qatar and Morocco in various fields, especially in the realm of equestrian sports.

El Jadida has been the proud host of the Salon du Cheval since its inception in 2008, and the city will once again welcome QREC as a key participant. This year, QREC will bring an official delegation to showcase its commitment to Arabian horse culture at the International Village pavilion.

Preparations are already underway to ensure that the pavilion not only reflects Qatar’s rich equestrian traditions but also promotes its prominent events, such as the purebred Arabian horse shows and the renowned horse races at Al Rayyan and Al Uqdah racecourses.

The pavilion will also spotlight Qatar’s significant role in the international horse racing scene, including its sponsorship of prestigious events like the Qatar Goodwood Festival in the UK and the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in France - two major events that coincide with the Salon du Cheval this year.

The QREC pavilion has historically been a popular attraction, drawing large crowds eager to learn about Qatar’s dedication to the Arabian horse breed and its contributions to global equestrian sports.

A Vibrant Celebration of Morocco’s Equestrian Heritage

The Salon du Cheval is not just an exhibition; it’s a vibrant celebration of Morocco’s equestrian heritage. The event is set to feature a variety of exhibitions and lectures that delve into the cultural, historical, and scientific aspects of equestrianism.

From modern and traditional saddle-making to the intricate craftsmanship of “Tbourida” rifles, the event showcases the entire spectrum of horse-related professions.

Last year’s edition saw participation from 40 countries, with 100 exhibitors and 160,000 visitors over seven days.

As QREC prepares to return to El Jadida, it is poised to once again leave an indelible mark on this prestigious event, celebrating not only the spirit of competition but also the enduring bond between Qatar and Morocco.
