Ukrainian police shot and killed a man who opened fire in a busy district of Kyiv and later barricaded himself inside a supermarket, according to Interior Ministry officials.

The incident took place in the Holosiivskyi district, where the suspect reportedly began shooting before taking refuge inside the store. Authorities confirmed that special police units were deployed to the scene after emergency calls were received.

Police units attempted to establish contact with the attacker before storming the building. According to officials, negotiators tried to de-escalate the situation, but the suspect continued to pose a threat, including firing at officers during the intervention.

Emergency services transported multiple injured individuals to hospital for treatment, while security forces secured the surrounding area to prevent further risk to civilians.

Authorities have not yet released details about the identity of the attacker or possible motives behind the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
