Pakistan prime minister discusses Gulf tensions with Iran’s president
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a phone conversation on Sunday with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss the evolving situation in the Gulf region, amid rising geopolitical tensions.
According to official statements, the discussion focused on recent developments linked to instability in the Middle East, where ongoing tensions have raised concerns over security and economic repercussions across the region.
During the exchange, Sharif briefed the Iranian leader on his recent diplomatic engagements with key regional figures, including officials from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey. These consultations are part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to maintain dialogue and encourage de-escalation among regional actors.
The Pakistani prime minister also welcomed Iran’s continued diplomatic outreach, highlighting recent high-level interactions between the two countries. He noted the importance of sustained communication channels in addressing shared challenges and fostering cooperation.
Reaffirming Islamabad’s position, Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region. He underscored the country’s willingness to act as a constructive partner in efforts aimed at reducing tensions and supporting diplomatic solutions.
The conversation reflects ongoing coordination between regional powers as they navigate a complex and uncertain geopolitical landscape shaped by conflict, shifting alliances, and global economic pressures.
