Nightclub bouncer killed in shooting in central Grenoble
A fatal shooting in central Grenoble, southeastern France, has left a 38-year-old nightclub bouncer dead and a 26-year-old woman injured, according to the public prosecutor’s office.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, around 2:30 a.m., on Place Notre-Dame in the city centre. The victim was hit by a burst of gunfire and died at the scene despite emergency response efforts. A young woman who was standing nearby was also struck in the arm. She was taken to hospital, and her condition is not life-threatening.
Authorities reported that five shell casings of 9mm calibre were recovered at the scene. Initial witness statements suggest that only one shooter was involved in the attack.
The victim worked as a bouncer at a local nightlife venue in Grenoble. According to officials, he had previously been the subject of a legal complaint in 2025 that was later dismissed without further action.
Investigators have not yet determined the motive behind the shooting, and no leads have been prioritized so far. A full investigation into charges of violent homicide has been launched.
The incident has raised renewed concerns about nighttime violence and public safety in urban centres across France.
