Morocco's Coastal Security Operation Halts Maritime Migration Scheme
A coordinated security operation on New Year's Eve successfully prevented an unauthorized maritime crossing attempt from Morocco's southwestern coast. The Royal Gendarmerie's intervention focused on the Tan-Tan coastline, a known departure point for vessels headed toward Spain's Canary Islands.
The operation, executed through collaboration between Telmzon's territorial center and Tan-Tan's judicial center Gendarmerie units, received additional support from a rapid intervention team. Their efforts yielded significant results, including the seizure of critical equipment: a four-wheel-drive vehicle, two inflatable boats, dual engines, and various migration-related materials. Law enforcement also discovered and confiscated a hunting rifle with ammunition during the operation.
The vehicle's driver was taken into custody as authorities expand their investigation to identify additional suspects connected to the planned crossing. This preemptive action demonstrates Morocco's ongoing commitment to managing irregular maritime migration along its coastal regions.
