Morocco ranks 22nd globally with record tourist arrivals

Morocco reached 22nd place worldwide in international tourist arrivals in 2025 after receiving 19.8 million visitors. The figures mark one of the strongest performances in the country’s tourism history and place it among the fastest advancing destinations globally.

The country moved up three positions compared with the previous year and gained 12 places compared with 2019. The 2019 benchmark is widely used to measure long term recovery and growth in global travel flows after major disruptions in the sector.

Tourism revenues also improved, with Morocco now ranking 31st worldwide, up from 32nd. Earnings reached 14.8 billion dollars, reflecting higher spending per visitor and a stronger positioning of the national tourism offer across key markets.

Authorities attribute this performance to reforms introduced under the national tourism roadmap launched in 2023. The strategy focuses on expanding air connectivity, increasing hotel capacity, diversifying destinations, improving service quality, and strengthening workforce skills across the tourism ecosystem.

Early indicators from 2026 show continued momentum. Tourist arrivals grew by close to 7 percent in the first quarter, compared with a global average of around 2 percent reported for the same period. This gap highlights sustained demand for Morocco as a travel destination.

Officials say the results align with a long term national vision aimed at strengthening Morocco’s global tourism position by 2030. The current trajectory suggests continued investment in infrastructure and services will remain central to maintaining growth in visitor numbers and revenue.
