Morocco Prepares for Academic Year 2024-2025: Over 8 Million Students Set to Enroll

As the new academic year approaches in Morocco, the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports has unveiled enrollment projections for 2024-2025. Over 8.1 million students are expected to begin their studies on September 9, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the country's educational landscape.

Public schools will bear the brunt of this educational surge, accommodating nearly 7 million students. While primary education is set to experience a slight decline of 1.3%, with approximately 3.7 million students, both middle and high school sectors are poised for growth. Middle school enrollment is projected to increase by 5.5%, reaching about 2 million students, while high school numbers are expected to surge by an impressive 12.7%, totaling around 1.2 million students.

The ministry anticipates welcoming over 1.8 million new students into the public education system this year. This influx includes about 585,000 children starting their primary education journey, 625,000 entering middle school, and 453,000 beginning their high school core curriculum.

In a strategic move to enhance early childhood education, particularly in rural areas, the Ministry has reported that nearly 984,000 children will enroll in preschool programs for the upcoming academic year. Of these, approximately 642,000 will be attending public preschool institutions, underscoring the government's commitment to accessible early education.
