Morocco and Russia enhance civil aviation and road transport cooperation
Morocco and Russia held discussions focused on expanding collaboration in civil aviation and road transportation during the Global Transport Connectivity Forum in Istanbul. Moroccan Transport and Logistics Minister Abdessamad Kayouh met with Russian Deputy Transport Minister Dmitry Zverev to explore ways to deepen ties in these sectors.
The talks centered on increasing the number of direct flights between Morocco and Moscow, aiming to establish daily connections to meet rising demand from Moroccan and African travelers. Additionally, both parties considered signing a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation across road, rail, and maritime transport.
Kayouh highlighted the significance of reinforcing the longstanding political and economic relations between the two nations. Zverev welcomed the progress made and described Morocco as a strategic partner for Russia in the region, expressing interest in expanding air routes and furthering ground transport collaboration.
Morocco’s delegation, led by Kayouh and including senior transport and road safety officials as well as the Moroccan ambassador to Türkiye, is attending the three-day forum that gathers global decision-makers and industry experts to discuss the development of international transport corridors.
