As the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) approaches its kickoff on January 13th, the Atlas Lions of Morocco are setting ambitious goals after their remarkable World Cup performance.

"We've become the team everyone wants to beat," proclaimed Moroccan midfield dynamo Azzedine Ounahi in an exclusive interview with this publisher. "In every match, whether friendly or competitive, our opponents are eager to bring us down."

Far from being intimidated, Ounahi insists that the increased attention will only heighten the team's focus. "The pressure will drive us to deliver 100% effort and concentration in every single game," he asserted resolutely.

Ounahi, a 22-year-old instrumental figure in Morocco's surprising run to the World Cup semifinals in Qatar, is now fully recovered from a back injury. The French-born playmaker is excited about the opportunity to lead his homeland to AFCON glory on February 11th.

"Our people have high expectations, and rightfully so after what we achieved," stated Ounahi. "Hosting the 2025 AFCON also provides us with extra motivation to perform well now."

While Ounahi refrained from outright stating that the Atlas Lions will secure the trophy, his confidence was unmistakable. "If we play to our potential, very few teams can match us," he declared. "The desire is present to achieve something truly special for Morocco."
