In a remarkable development for Moroccan judo, Soumiya Iraoui and Abderrahmane Boushita have successfully earned their places in the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This exciting news was announced by the Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM) on Thursday, June 26.

Soumiya Iraoui: A Seasoned Contender

Soumiya Iraoui, a distinguished competitor in the 52kg weight category, is set to make her second Olympic appearance after her participation in the Tokyo 2020 Games. Iraoui’s impressive career includes a silver medal at the 2019 African Games and six medals at the African Judo Championships, three of which are gold.

Iraoui’s journey to qualifying for Paris 2024 has been characterized by consistent performances on the international judo circuit. Her efforts have earned her sufficient points to rank among the top 17 judokas in her weight category, ensuring her place in the prestigious event. As a prominent figure in Moroccan judo, Iraoui is poised to demonstrate her expertise and competitive spirit on the global stage once again.

Abderrahmane Boushita: A Rising Star

Abderrahmane Boushita, competing in the 66kg category, will be making his Olympic debut in Paris. Boushita secured his spot through the continental quota, reflecting his rising status within African judo. His notable achievements include winning a bronze medal at the 2021 African Judo Championships in Dakar.

Ranked 28th globally in his weight category and among Africa's top 22, Boushita’s path to Paris 2024 underscores his dedication and emerging talent in the sport of judo. His Olympic debut is highly anticipated as he represents Morocco on one of the world's biggest sporting stages.
