Moroccan Government Upholds Current Examination Schedule for Medical and Pharmacy Studies

In a decisive move, the Moroccan government has affirmed its commitment to maintaining the current examination schedule for medical and pharmacy faculties, ensuring continuity amidst ongoing challenges. The announcement came during a press conference, providing clarity and outlining measures to address concerns raised by students.

The Minister responsible for Parliamentary Relations clarified that the spring examination session will proceed as planned, starting on June 26, 2024, with the resit session scheduled before the end of August 2024. Additionally, resit examinations for the first semester will be held in September 2024.

Addressing a significant point of contention, the Minister announced the rescheduling of boycotted hospital internships, effective from the next academic year. This decision aims to mitigate disruptions caused by ongoing protests and enable students to fulfill their practical training requirements.

Moreover, the government has taken steps to address grading concerns. The controversial zero-grade policy, which faced criticism from students, will be replaced by the grade obtained during the first semester's resit session. This adjustment aims to ensure a fair and equitable evaluation process for affected students.

In an effort to promote engagement and resolve the ongoing deadlock, the Minister stated that sanctions related to the June 26, 2024 examinations will be reconsidered based on student attendance and participation.

The government's decision to uphold the current examination schedule while implementing measures to address grievances reflects a balanced approach aimed at safeguarding academic integrity and acknowledging student concerns.

As medical and pharmacy faculties navigate this challenging period, the government's commitment to maintaining open lines of communication and implementing reasonable accommodations will be crucial in fostering an environment conducive to learning and professional development.

By adhering to the established examination timeline and implementing measures to address key issues, the Moroccan authorities aim to strike a delicate balance between upholding academic standards and addressing legitimate student concerns in these critical fields.
