Mercedes-Benz Eurosatory 2026 defense strategy expands security portfolio
Mercedes-Benz is strengthening its presence in the defense and security sector with a broader range of specialized vehicles presented at Eurosatory 2026. The company is positioning civilian platforms as adaptable solutions for government, military, and critical infrastructure protection missions. The strategy reflects growing demand for modular vehicles capable of operating in high-risk and rapidly changing environments.
At the center of this approach is the G-Class, which remains the flagship platform for specialized applications. More than 74,000 units have already been deployed globally in roles such as patrol operations, disaster response, liaison missions, and peacekeeping support. The showcased versions emphasize durability and off-road capability, featuring a ladder-frame chassis, three locking differentials, 241 mm of ground clearance, and a diesel engine offering an estimated range of over 600 km.
Mercedes-Benz Vans is also expanding its defense-oriented offering through adapted versions of the Sprinter and Vito. The Sprinter 4×4 is presented as a flexible base for conversions, with a gross vehicle weight of up to 5.5 tons and configurations designed for logistics, communications, radar systems, and mobile command functions. The Vito is displayed in a military police configuration, reflecting the increasing role of mid-size vans in security and enforcement operations.
The company is also introducing an anti-drone concept developed with Tytan Technologies and BINZ. The system integrates a Sprinter and a G-Class into a coordinated platform equipped with operator stations, secure communications, aerial surveillance cameras, drone launch modules, and a telescopic radar mast. Mercedes-Benz stresses its role as a vehicle platform supplier, leaving systems integration to specialized partners working in the defense technology ecosystem.
