British trip-hop group Massive Attack has transformed its 2026 world tour into a sustained critique of Palantir Technologies, the data analytics company co-founded by billionaire Peter Thiel. Concert visuals across the tour highlight the company’s government and military contracts and draw attention to Thiel’s political views, including his past assertion that “freedom and democracy are incompatible.”
The performances extend the band’s long-standing use of live shows as platforms for political messaging. Screens at venues display references to Palantir’s work with the United States military, Israeli defense institutions, immigration enforcement agencies, the FBI, and the United Kingdom’s National Health Service. The visual material frames the company as central to debates over state surveillance and the expanding use of private data systems in public governance.
Massive Attack’s tour includes multiple international dates in 2026, including European stops in June and arena shows in Australia in August. In Berlin on June 7 and Brussels on June 8, audiences are expected to see the same politically charged visual installations that have accompanied earlier concerts. The group has previously used simulated facial recognition systems during performances to assign fictional database profiles to audience members, a recurring artistic device aimed at questioning surveillance culture.
The campaign comes amid growing public scrutiny of Palantir. In the United Kingdom, large-scale petitions have called for the government to end contracts with the company, including a 330 million pound agreement involving NHS patient data systems. In the United States, political scrutiny has also increased, with some Democratic candidates returning donations linked to company executives over concerns tied to immigration enforcement applications.
Civil society organizations have also intensified pressure. Groups such as Purge Palantir have organized demonstrations outside company offices in several American cities, while advocacy networks have developed tools to track the firm’s contracts and political contributions. In the United Kingdom, political parties have formally challenged the company’s public sector agreements, including its health data partnerships.
The band, led by Robert “3D” Del Naja and Grant “Daddy G” Marshall, has also expanded its activism beyond surveillance issues.
