Mali: several terrorists neutralized in Central Region
In central Mali, the Malian Armed Forces announced that a security operation on Sunday led to the neutralization of about ten terrorists in the Douentza region. The army highlighted that the operation successfully eliminated multiple assailants and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting civilians and ensuring the safe movement of people and goods.
On the same day, a separate attack targeted military positions in the northern Gao region. According to the army, the assault was swiftly repelled, with no casualties among the Malian forces.
Mali has been grappling with a multidimensional crisis for several months, characterized by repeated terrorist attacks and intercommunal violence. These conflicts have resulted in thousands of deaths and forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes.
The country is also facing economic pressure from blockades organized by the Group to Support Islam and Muslims (JNIM), affiliated with Al-Qaeda. The group has targeted fuel convoys as well as industrial and mining sites, aiming to disrupt Mali’s economy.
