Joseph Aoun visits Spain on official trip
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun is departing Beirut on Sunday for Spain, where he will begin a two-day official visit at the invitation of King Felipe VI and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
According to the presidency, the meetings in Madrid will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, as well as discussions on regional and international developments. This visit marks President Aoun’s first official state trip to Spain since assuming office.
The Lebanese head of state will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Joe Raggi, reflecting the diplomatic importance of the visit and Lebanon’s interest in expanding cooperation with European partners.
Separately, Minister of Energy and Water Joe Saddi is traveling to Qatar on Sunday to continue talks on Qatari initiatives aimed at supporting Lebanon’s electricity sector. Doha has recently approved $40 million in financial assistance, along with a broader economic project valued at $360 million, which is expected to contribute to the construction of a power generation facility.
