Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon leave 52 dead and 154 injured, officials say
Israeli airstrikes carried out from late Sunday into Monday have killed at least 52 people and injured 154 others in Lebanon, according to updated figures released by the Lebanese Health Ministry. An earlier toll had reported fewer fatalities and injuries, but authorities revised the numbers as rescue operations continued.
The strikes targeted multiple areas, including the southern suburbs of Beirut, southern Lebanon, and parts of the Bekaa Valley. Emergency teams have been working to recover victims from damaged buildings and provide medical assistance to the wounded.
In addition to the human toll, the raids have forced widespread displacement. Lebanon’s government disaster management unit reported that more than 28,500 people have been displaced from affected areas. Many families sought refuge in safer regions, while local authorities coordinated temporary shelters and emergency aid.
The escalation comes amid rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, raising concerns about the risk of a broader regional confrontation. International observers have called for restraint, warning that continued violence could further destabilize the fragile security situation along the Lebanese-Israeli border.
