Influencer Soukayna Benjelloun placed in Pre-trial detention in Oukacha
Moroccan influencer Soukayna Benjelloun has been placed in pre-trial detention by order of the public prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of First Instance, following her arrest on Thursday, November 27.
Benjelloun, widely known on social media and often referred to as “the woman with the most expensive divorce in Morocco,” was transferred the same day to Oukacha Prison in Aïn Sebaâ. Her detention has stirred significant reaction online, with many users commenting on the high-profile nature of the case.
According to initial information, the influencer’s arrest follows a complaint filed by her ex-husband, who accuses her of defamation through digital platforms. The prosecutor's office has opened legal proceedings in accordance with current Moroccan legislation.
After appearing before the public prosecutor, Benjelloun was ordered to remain in custody while the investigation continues. Authorities will now proceed with hearing all parties involved and determining the final legal classification of the allegations.
It is worth noting that Benjelloun had previously announced being summoned by the judicial police in connection with accusations related to online defamation.
