Indonesian police dismantle major online gambling network in Jakarta

Authorities in Indonesia have arrested more than 300 foreign nationals during a large-scale police operation targeting an alleged online gambling network in West Jakarta.

According to investigators, the operation was carried out inside an office complex suspected of hosting illegal digital gambling activities linked to an international cybercrime network. Most of those arrested were foreign citizens from several Asian countries, including Vietnam, China, Laos, and Myanmar.

Police officials stated that the group is suspected of operating sophisticated online gambling platforms serving users across borders. During the raid, authorities seized computers, communication devices, servers, and digital systems believed to have been used to manage financial transactions and online betting operations.

Investigators also indicated that the case may involve additional offenses such as immigration violations, money laundering, and organized transnational cybercrime. Authorities are continuing to analyze digital evidence collected during the operation.

Cybercrime experts note that major urban centers like Jakarta are increasingly being used by international criminal networks due to advanced internet infrastructure, commercial office spaces, and the growing digital economy in Southeast Asia.

Indonesia has intensified efforts in recent years to combat illegal online gambling and cyber-related crimes. The government considers online betting activities illegal under national law and regularly conducts operations against local and foreign-run digital gambling networks.

Security analysts warn that transnational cybercrime groups are becoming more organized and technologically advanced, making international cooperation between law enforcement agencies increasingly important.

The investigation remains ongoing as Indonesian authorities seek to identify the financial structures, international connections, and possible regional partners linked to the operation.
