Indian fighter pilot killed in crash during Dubai airshow demonstration

A tragic accident occurred on Friday at the Dubai Airshow when an Indian Air Force fighter jet crashed during an aerobatic demonstration, killing its pilot. According to an official statement released by the Dubai Government Media Office, the Tejas aircraft was participating in the day’s scheduled flight display when it went down, resulting in the loss of the pilot's life.

Authorities reported that the aircraft lost control during a low-altitude maneuver, performing a roll before plunging to the ground approximately 1.6 kilometers from the airshow’s main venue. Eyewitnesses described seeing the jet burst into flames upon impact, sending a thick plume of smoke into the sky as emergency teams raced to the scene.

Videos circulating on social media show the aircraft descending rapidly before erupting in a fireball, leaving spectators in shock. The Indian Air Force has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash, expressing “deep regret over the loss of life” and affirming its support for the pilot’s family.

The incident took place on the final day of the Middle East’s largest aerospace event, which attracts thousands of visitors, including military officials and leaders in the aviation industry. Since its creation in 1986, the Dubai Airshow had never recorded such an accident during its public demonstrations.
