Hytera targets Africa for digital communications expansion

Hytera, a global leader in professional communications technology, is intensifying its focus on Africa, capitalizing on the continent's digital transformation. During the recent GITEX Africa 2025 event, Jayden Chen, General Director of Hytera Morocco, articulated the company’s ambitious plans for the region.

Founded in China in 1993, Hytera has established itself at the forefront of the communications sector, specializing in Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) and Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) systems, while also expanding into 4G and 5G networks. Chen emphasized the comprehensive nature of their offerings: “It’s much more than just walkie-talkies. We deliver end-to-end solutions like hardware, software, and systems that ensure secure, reliable communication for critical sectors.”

In Morocco, Hytera's infrastructure contributions are significant. The company plays a vital role in enhancing national systems, including railways, airports, and seaports, as well as emergency response frameworks. Chen noted, “We work with the Moroccan government and sectors like logistics, entertainment, and events. Communication is the backbone.”

However, Morocco is merely a starting point for Hytera. With a 15-year presence across Africa, the company serves over 300 clients in South Africa alone. In other countries such as Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Cameroon, police forces and essential services rely on Hytera’s advanced technology.

Chen's outlook on Africa's potential is clear: “Africa is the future. The digital shift here is real, and we’re ready to support it with scalable, integrated systems.”
