Green hydrogen investors signal promising dynamics in Morocco
The selection of national and international investors to develop green hydrogen projects in Morocco reflects a "promising" dynamic, aligned with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, stated Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch during a press conference in Rabat.
Following a meeting of the steering committee responsible for the Morocco Offer in the green hydrogen sector, Akhannouch emphasized that efforts are underway to position the Kingdom among nations with significant potential in this field. He noted that the Morocco Offer is being actively implemented.
In this context, five leading companies—both national and international—have been selected to spearhead six projects requiring a total investment of 319 billion dirhams. These investors, chosen through a transparent methodology based on various criteria, hail from friendly nations and will focus their investments in the regions of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, and Guelmim-Oued Noun.
These six initiatives join two others established through agreements signed in October 2024 in Rabat, attended by King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron. The first agreement aims to implement the Morocco Offer for developing the green hydrogen sector in collaboration with Total Energies, while the second involves a joint development between the Office Chérifien des Phosphates and ENGIE, including five projects, one of which pertains to the green hydrogen sector.
