Green Generation Strategy: Key Projects Launched in Tétouan and Chefchaouen

In a regional tour, Ahmed El Bouari, the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, Water, and Forests, visited Tétouan and Chefchaouen on January 25th to launch and inaugurate several significant development projects under the ambitious Green Generation strategy. These initiatives are aimed at enhancing the agricultural and economic landscape of the region.

During the visit, El Bouari highlighted the progress of ongoing projects, including the second phase of the wholesale market and modern slaughterhouses, which is progressing rapidly. The visit also marked the start of additional works at the agro-food complex, designed to improve access to facilities. The initial investment for this project exceeds 73 million dirhams, and it was developed through a partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Tétouan commune. Additionally, the architectural and technical plans for a future livestock market were unveiled, aiming to improve livestock commercialization conditions.

El Bouari also inaugurated a new headquarters for the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture in Tétouan. He then visited the rural commune of Talambote in Chefchaouen to further support social and solidarity-based economy initiatives. One major highlight was the launch of a 500-hectare carob tree plantation project, benefiting 420 farmers. Additionally, a 63-million-dirham project to improve 60 km of rural roads, benefiting 25,800 individuals across seven communes, was presented.

Another notable achievement during the visit was the inauguration of an olive oil extraction unit in the rural commune of Tanaqoub. Spanning over 11,713 m², this project, with an investment of 26.5 million dirhams, aims to boost the olive oil industry and provide new economic opportunities for the region. The visit concluded with the opening of another olive oil extraction unit in Beni Derkoul, covering 8,421 m² and costing 26 million dirhams.
