GenZ212 protests: Clashes and vandalism reported across several Moroccan cities

The night of September 30 to October 1, 2025, saw unrest in several Moroccan cities during protests organized by the GenZ212 movement. Initially planned as peaceful gatherings, some demonstrations escalated into clashes with authorities and incidents of vandalism.

Local sources reported confrontations in Temara, Skhirat, Inezgane, Aït Amira, and Oujda, where groups of young participants threw stones at law enforcement. Public and private properties, including bank branches, pharmacies, vehicles, and shops, were damaged, and one supermarket was targeted during the unrest.

Authorities conducted several arrests. In Oujda, a protester was injured after being hit by a law enforcement vehicle. Contrary to rumors circulating on social media, local sources confirmed that the individual is alive; he suffered lower limb injuries, but his condition is stable, and there is no immediate threat to his life.

The incidents unfolded amid widespread circulation of unverified images and information on social media, complicating the distinction between confirmed facts and rumors.

The GenZ212 organizers reiterated calls for peaceful demonstrations and urged participants to refrain from violence and property damage.
