France Leverages Moroccan Expertise to Ensure the Security of Its Olympics

Rabat and Paris are collaborating to ensure the safe and secure execution of the 2024 Summer Olympics in the French capital, with a particular focus on preventing criminal or terrorist incidents.

Moroccan security chief Abdellatif Hammouchi met with his French counterpart, national police director Frédéric Veaux, in Rabat on Tuesday to discuss enhancing cooperation in event security and addressing various areas of mutual interest. These shared concerns encompass tackling issues such as drug trafficking, illegal immigration, terrorism, cybercrime, and transnational organized crime syndicates.

During the meeting, the two security leaders delved into best practices for intelligence sharing and strategized joint operations built on mutual trust and common priorities. Hammouchi is scheduled to travel to Paris soon to further strengthen bilateral security ties and expand the scope of Moroccan-French collaboration to serve the interests of both nations.

The focus on securing the Paris Games is paramount, given the high-profile terrorist attacks that France has faced in recent years. Moroccan security expertise is deemed invaluable in fortifying the Olympics and preventing any potential incidents that could tarnish the games.

This emerging security partnership underscores the deepening ties between Rabat and Paris across various political, economic, and social domains. As allies with aligned strategic visions, Morocco and France are increasingly uniting to confront shared threats, ranging from terrorism to global warming. The collaboration on Olympic security serves as a compelling example of this growing alliance.
