France: investigation launched after woman found dead in Béthune holiday rental

French authorities have opened a homicide investigation after the discovery of a woman’s body in a short-term rental property in Béthune, in the Pas-de-Calais department. Prosecutors said the victim had suffered multiple injuries caused by a bladed weapon.

The case was confirmed on Tuesday by the Béthune prosecutor’s office, following reports of the discovery made the previous day. The identity of the victim has not yet been established.

Victim found in holiday accommodation

According to Béthune prosecutor Étienne Thieffry, forensic examinations revealed several wounds consistent with an attack involving a bladed weapon.
