Fire devastates Saint-Denis car dealership, injures two firefighters

A massive fire broke out in the early hours of Wednesday, June 18, at a BMW car dealership in Saint-Denis, near the border of Saint-Ouen. The blaze destroyed approximately 40 vehicles and caused minor injuries to two firefighters, according to the Paris Fire Brigade.

Overnight inferno damages 40 vehicles

The fire erupted around 1 a.m. in the 4,000-square-meter, five-story complex. A hundred firefighters and 20 fire engines were dispatched to the scene to contain the flames. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze by 4:30 a.m., but the damage was significant, with several levels of the building heavily impacted.

Lingering impact on surrounding areas

The intensity of the fire left a strong odor that spread to nearby towns, including Paris. Residents reported being able to smell the smoke hours after the fire was extinguished.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities are working to assess the full extent of the damage.
