Erdogan warns Israel against undermining US–Iran diplomatic efforts

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned that Middle East peace efforts risk failing without the involvement and support of regional powers, urging that Israel must not be allowed to derail diplomatic progress between the United States and Iran.

Speaking in Istanbul alongside Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Erdogan emphasized that any sustainable resolution in the region must be grounded in the will and cooperation of surrounding countries.

Call for regional ownership of peace efforts

Erdogan said that lasting stability in the Middle East cannot be achieved through external initiatives alone, stressing that regional actors must play a central role in shaping outcomes.

He warned that excluding or bypassing regional stakeholders would undermine the durability of any agreement, particularly in the context of ongoing efforts involving Washington and Tehran.

Comments on Israel and US–Iran diplomacy

The Turkish president specifically cautioned against actions that could “dynamite” emerging diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran, without providing further details on the status of the discussions.

His remarks reflect continued tensions in the region, where competing alliances and long-standing geopolitical rivalries continue to complicate efforts to revive or establish new diplomatic frameworks.

Broader regional context

The comments come at a time of heightened diplomatic activity involving key Middle Eastern powers, with Türkiye positioning itself as an active voice in regional security discussions.

Ankara has repeatedly called for dialogue-based solutions to regional conflicts, while also criticizing policies it views as exacerbating instability.

Erdogan’s latest statement underscores Türkiye’s push for greater regional involvement in shaping diplomatic outcomes, particularly on issues involving Iran, Israel and the United States.
