Deadly factory fire in South Korea leaves dozens injured and missing
A major fire at an automotive parts factory in South Korea has left at least 14 people missing and dozens injured, authorities confirmed on Friday. The incident occurred in the central city of Daejeon, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
According to officials, around 45 people were injured in the blaze, with at least 21 reported to be in critical condition. Emergency services issued a high-level alert, typically reserved for fires that exceed the response capacity of local authorities.
Firefighters worked intensively to contain the flames and search for those still unaccounted for. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and investigations are expected to follow once the situation is under control.
President Lee Jae Myung called for the full mobilization of available personnel and resources to support rescue operations. The tragedy highlights ongoing concerns about industrial safety and emergency preparedness in large manufacturing facilities.
