Crypto exchange Bullish to buy Equiniti in $4.2 billion deal
Cryptocurrency exchange operator Bullish has announced plans to acquire global transfer agent Equiniti in a deal valued at $4.2 billion, according to a statement released on Tuesday. The transaction marks one of the largest moves by a crypto-related company into traditional financial infrastructure.
Deal structure and valuation
The agreement includes approximately $1.85 billion in assumed debt and around $2.35 billion in Bullish stock. The acquisition reflects Bullish’s strategy to expand beyond digital asset trading into broader financial services.
Equiniti processes nearly $500 billion in annual payments and provides services supporting more than 20 million verified shareholders, making it a significant player in global financial administration.
Market reaction and outlook
Following the announcement, Bullish shares fell by 7% in premarket trading, indicating cautious investor sentiment regarding the scale of the acquisition.
The transaction is expected to be completed in January 2027, pending regulatory approval.
Strategic expansion
This deal highlights the growing convergence between cryptocurrency platforms and traditional financial institutions, as companies seek to diversify revenue streams and strengthen infrastructure capabilities in global markets.
