Clashes erupt between Lebanese and Syrians in Kfar Remmane

A violent clash broke out Wednesday evening between Lebanese residents and Syrian nationals in the southern Lebanese village of Kfar Remmane, near Nabatieh, according to local sources.

The confrontation reportedly began after a Syrian worker was accused of targeting a local resident's home. The situation quickly escalated into a physical altercation involving multiple individuals from both communities.

Security forces intervened shortly after the incident began. A State Security patrol was deployed to the area to de-escalate tensions and restore order. Several Syrians were arrested in connection with the incident, according to the authorities.

Tensions between Lebanese communities and Syrian refugees have been rising in recent months due to economic hardship and concerns over security and labor competition. The Lebanese government has faced increasing pressure to regulate the presence of Syrian nationals, who have taken refuge in the country since the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011.

The authorities have urged calm and called on citizens to avoid any acts of violence or retaliation that could further inflame community divisions.
