Chinese company Elon opens wind turbine blade factory in Nador
Elon Technology, a private Chinese firm specializing in wind energy equipment, is set to inaugurate its first manufacturing facility outside China in Nador, located in northeastern Morocco, by the end of May.
The factory’s construction is nearly complete, with plans to produce 750 sets of turbine blades annually, each measuring 87.5 meters in length.
The facility is built with environmentally friendly materials and features advanced systems to monitor environmental impact. It will operate on a digital platform designed to minimize energy consumption, and all industrial waste will be handled by certified companies following strict environmental regulations.
This project, named Ayllon, is among the first to be approved under Morocco’s new investment charter, effective since March 2023.
With an investment of around €220 million, the Nador plant will be the largest wind turbine blade factory in the Euro-Africa region. It is expected to generate 3,300 jobs, boosting both the local economy in Nador and Morocco’s broader energy industry.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the plant will help meet the increasing global demand for wind turbine blades. This expansion also strengthens Elon’s position as a world leader in wind energy manufacturing and supports the global shift to cleaner, more sustainable energy sources.
Morocco was selected for its political and economic stability, a skilled young workforce, and strategic geographic location factors that enhance production efficiency and reduce logistics costs.
Elon looks forward to deepening cooperation with Morocco’s renewable energy sector and contributing to the sustainable growth of the wind energy industry in the country.
