Casablanca wholesale prices fall as tomatoes and apricots decline

Prices at Casablanca’s wholesale market recorded a broad decline in several food products on 10 June 2026, with tomatoes and apricots among the most affected. The latest bulletin from city services shows price variations reaching up to 3 dirhams per kilogram compared with the previous week’s levels.

Tomatoes traded between 2 and 4.50 dirhams per kilogram, marking a drop of 1.50 dirhams at the lower end and 3 dirhams at the upper end. Apricots also registered a downward movement while other fruit categories remained largely stable. The figures reflect wholesale conditions only and do not represent retail prices paid by consumers in local markets.

Vegetable prices showed mixed movements. Carrots ranged between 1.20 and 2.50 dirhams per kilogram, with declines of 0.30 dirhams at the minimum and 1 dirham at the maximum. Fresh onions eased slightly between 1.30 and 2.50 dirhams. Potatoes also declined, with the upper price limit falling from 5 to 4.50 dirhams per kilogram while the lower bound remained unchanged at 3 dirhams. Courgettes and cauliflower stayed steady, showing no change in their trading ranges.

The overall downward pressure is linked to stronger seasonal supply at the start of the summer campaign. Larger volumes entering the wholesale market have increased availability and reduced prices for several products. Market operators describe the shift as seasonal rather than structural, noting that weather conditions, transport costs, and demand levels can quickly alter price trends. Limited activity in red meat trading after Eid Al Adha has also reduced the representativeness of some market indicators.
