Casablanca Stock Exchange Opens Higher as MASI Extends Gains

The Casablanca Stock Exchange opened Wednesday’s session on a positive note, with Morocco’s main equity benchmark continuing the upward momentum recorded in the previous trading session.

The MASI index rose by 0.43% to 17,830.91 points shortly after the market opened, reflecting renewed buying activity across the Moroccan equity market.

Major indexes move higher

The broader market’s positive start was accompanied by gains in the two other closely watched benchmarks.

The MASI 20, which tracks the 20 most liquid stocks listed in Casablanca, advanced 0.50% to 1,290.93 points.

The MASI ESG, which brings together companies receiving the strongest environmental, social and governance assessments according to Moody’s ESG Solutions, gained 0.55% to 1,322.02 points.

The synchronized rise across the three indexes points to a broadly positive opening rather than movement concentrated in a single market segment.

Positive momentum carries over from Tuesday

Wednesday’s performance follows a stronger close in the previous session. On Tuesday, the MASI finished 0.60% higher, establishing a positive backdrop for the start of midweek trading.

Investors will now be watching whether the early gains are sustained as trading activity develops throughout the session, particularly as individual stocks influence the broader market indicators.

The Casablanca Stock Exchange remains a key barometer of sentiment toward Moroccan listed companies, with movements in its principal indexes closely followed by domestic and international market participants.
