Police in Casablanca have arrested three individuals following violent clashes linked to football supporter groups, highlighting ongoing concerns about hooliganism in Moroccan sports culture.

The arrests were made in the early hours of Sunday in the Moulay Rachid district by local police forces in Casablanca. The suspects, aged between 19 and 24, are believed to have been involved in violent confrontations between rival ultra groups associated with local football clubs.

According to security sources, authorities were alerted after large-scale clashes erupted between groups of supporters. The violence reportedly involved the use of bladed weapons and fireworks, escalating tensions in residential areas and prompting a rapid police response.

Footage circulating on social media showed highly violent scenes, including acts of extreme aggression that shocked viewers and raised public concern about the growing intensity of football-related violence. One particularly disturbing incident appeared to show an attempted serious injury during the clashes.

Security forces intervened quickly, restoring order and arresting three suspects shortly after the incidents. Police also launched a wider investigation to identify additional individuals involved in the violence.

The arrested suspects are currently under judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor. Authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances of the clashes and to establish the roles of all participants.

Hooliganism linked to football supporters, particularly ultra groups, has been an ongoing challenge in several countries, where rivalries between fan groups sometimes escalate into organized street violence. Authorities continue to strengthen surveillance and preventive measures to reduce such incidents and ensure public safety around sporting events.
