Berrechid: Administrative court removes municipal President Tarik Kadiri and several council members
The Administrative Court of Casablanca ordered on Wednesday the removal of Tarik Kadiri, president of the Berrechid municipal council, along with several of his deputies and other councilors. The ruling follows a petition filed by the provincial governor, who reported serious dysfunctions in public service management, questionable handling of undeveloped land, and various administrative and financial irregularities.
Before turning to the courts, the governor had already enacted a suspension procedure against the officials concerned, in accordance with Article 64 of Organic Law No. 113-14 governing local authorities. Their cases were then referred to the administrative judiciary for a definitive decision.
The dismissal is based on the findings of audit and inquiry commissions, which uncovered multiple anomalies within the commune’s management. Although the officials involved were asked to provide explanations, their responses were deemed insufficient by provincial authorities, leading first to their suspension and ultimately to judicial review.
In addition to the president— a member of the Istiqlal Party—the court also dismissed his first, third, fourth, and fifth deputies. Three municipal councilors were likewise removed: one from the National Rally of Independents (RNI) and one from the Democratic Left Federation (FGD).
Tarik Kadiri also serves as a Member of Parliament for the Berrechid constituency and is the secretary-general of the House of Representatives, adding a significant political dimension to the case.
