Arrest of extremist "Allal TGV" following a series of murders in Spain

French authorities have announced the arrest of Allal El Mrabet, known as "Allal TGV," a dual national of Morocco and Spain, after he fled Spain where he is suspected of committing three murders between November 2023 and January 2024. He is also linked to terrorist and extremist activities. His arrest took place in Béziers, in southern France, following the issuance of an international arrest warrant.

At 54 years old, Allal El Mrabet had become one of Spain's most wanted criminals after investigations connected him to the murders of three Spanish farmers, committed in various rural regions.

According to Spanish media sources, the first murder occurred on November 22, 2023, near the city of Tudela in Navarre, where a 68-year-old farmer was found dead, showing clear signs of violence.

The second crime took place on December 21 in Ribaforada, initially considered an agricultural accident until the investigation revealed it to be intentional homicide. The third murder was committed on January 5, 2024, in Vilanova de la Barca, Catalonia, before the suspect fled to France using the victims' vehicles.

Beyond these murders, El Mrabet's profile raises further concerns as he has been known to security services for several years. He was first arrested in Spain in 2014 for involvement in extremist activities and again in 2016 in Irún. Sentenced to two and a half years in prison for attempting to join Daesh in Syria, he was placed under electronic surveillance but managed to disable his bracelet and disappear.

Investigators have also indicated that he was active in disseminating extremist propaganda online, which has further complicated his case in the eyes of authorities.

His arrest has been met with relief among judicial and security circles, while joint investigations between France and Spain continue to dismantle potential support networks and shed light on the full extent of the crimes committed during his flight.
