Amazon sees AI driving AWS revenue to 600 billion dollars

Amazon chief executive Andy Jassy said artificial intelligence could help Amazon Web Services reach 600 billion dollars in annual revenue within the next decade, significantly raising his earlier forecast, according to remarks reported by Reuters.

Speaking at an internal company meeting, Jassy said he had previously expected AWS to generate around 300 billion dollars annually in about ten years. He now believes advances in AI could allow the cloud unit to at least double that figure.

The projection comes as Amazon increases spending on AI infrastructure. The company plans to invest about 200 billion dollars this year, largely focused on data centers and systems required to support artificial intelligence. The scale of the investment unsettled investors when it was announced alongside fourth-quarter earnings in February, triggering a sharp decline in the company’s share price.

AWS reported revenue of 128.7 billion dollars in 2025, up 19 percent from the previous year. Jassy’s forecast implies an average annual growth rate of roughly 17 percent over the next decade and would represent a near fivefold increase from current levels.

During a question and answer session, Jassy acknowledged market concerns about the scale of spending but defended the strategy. He said the company is responding to clear and growing demand rather than making speculative bets on AI adoption.

He added that expanding AWS requires large upfront investments in land, energy, buildings, semiconductors, servers and networking equipment, often years before those assets generate returns.

Amazon’s plans align with a broader surge in capital expenditure across the technology sector. Alphabet has projected capital spending of between 175 and 185 billion dollars for 2026, Microsoft spent 37.5 billion dollars in its latest quarter, and Meta expects to invest between 115 and 135 billion dollars.

Amazon shares rose following the report. The company declined to comment beyond Jassy’s statements.
